Finding Unusual Nursing Jobs

So you have a nursing degree, and maybe you've even spent a few years working in a hospital, or done your time in the nursing home realm but you want something different? Perhaps something a little bit more unusual in the nursing field? Here are some tips to help you find some unusual, or off the beaten track nursing jobs.

Nurse jobs come in all shapes and sizes. If you want to find something unusual you are going to have start looking in less common places. Skip Monster, and forget about the hospital bulletin boards. Instead, try specifically nursing related Web sites, message boards, forums, and online communities.

Try a nursing agency. These agencies are run by people specifically trained to help you find the nursing jobs you are really interested in. You won't have to sift through pages and pages of jobs that you are not even interested in applying for because they will help you find only the ones you want.

Check newspaper classified for alternative jobs in the medical field. You can also look in nursing and health magazines. Try your local library to find some of these publications.

Think of a field you're interested in that may not necessarily be health-related. Schools, prisons, lawyers offices, and community centres often all need nurses. You can even become a nurse in the armed forces. Try Google searches to find interesting nursing jobs that you'd like to apply for.

Talk to and regularly mix with other health professionals. Try to meet new friends in the nursing field and discuss potential job opportunities. The more people you know in the sectors that interest you, the more chances you have of hearing about an interesting job you can apply for.

When trying to find a more unusual job in nursing, remember to think outside the box, and try searching in places that other people don't normally look.
